Default Silkolene PRO R 15w-50

Does anyone have any experience using Fuchs Silkolene PRO R 15w-50 ?

What I like about this oil is the older API rating (SH & SJ) and that it's ester based (Group V) synthetic.

I am currently using Mobil 1 15w-50 (API SM - Motorsport Formula)

I've used Silk Pro R in my RS for a good few years now and never have had a problem using it whether on road or heavy track use. Engine always tends to stay cool regardless of use and the oil has a great smell when hot.

Previously my mechanic recommended Castrol 10w-60 (I think) but the oil supplier recommended the Pro R as a more suitable oil for the RS and how i use it.

I use Opie Oils here in the UK and he always is on hand to give advice on the best oils for your car.

Cheers

Just my 2 cents, but if you go back to using an older SH or SJ, are you not losing the benefits of newer technology? SL would seem to me to be the optimum for our cars these days.

Yeah,

Scared the cr*p out of me when I dripped a little on the fender and wiped it off I though S**T! it's removing the paint
I look forward to smelling this when the car goes out in the spring.
