interesting - i was going straight out of PET which as we know can and has been wrong.

it is a very interesting point on the 9.5" wheels and the apparent lack of ever being fitted to anything but the 964 Cup USA from the factory (and even then only to the Andial 25 cars in race config, and not on delivery to customers after the collasp of the series.)

Could only 25-30 cars have been fitted with these in total.
(I'm purely speculating here, but it would make these wheels the Rarest of the Rare)

Coming in late here, but FWIW when I bought my USA Carrera Cup car from the original owner, with documentation and pictures from the day of delivery, it came with the original wheels and Toyo tires (stored, not used). It was an Andial car that was immediately returned to Andial Cup series spec by Andial, and it came with two sets of wheels, 8" and 9.5" by 17.

When one 9.5" wheel cracked I couldn't find any in this country. The price from a guy in Germany who bought up the factory supply of the 9.5s some years ago (he had 38 at that time), was $1100 landed here. Most people move to a different wheel rather than pay that price. I didn't want to have an incomplete set, so....

Was hoping you would have jumped in a while back. So you had 2 sets? I am supposing the new owner has them now? I tried contacting the local individual I had gotten my info from but so far no go. You know him so I don't want to mention names.

As far as collectability goes I guess we have our answer. Considering you can pick up a set of 7&9's for around $500. I have only heard of one other set I almost picked up for $1100 for the pair needing refurbish. I figured at that price it wasn't worth having a 27 pound wheel when I could have a much lighter wheel for not much more.

BTW I guess we can assume the rears are 255's and not 275's.

Yes i would like verification of the Toyo F1's being 255 as well.
i would love to get a set (or at least a front and rear) for history's sake, they would be unusable, of course.

looks like i will keep my 9.5's i have in my wheel hoard for a rainy day (i have several full sets of Cup 1's in the various forms (RS, Cup, and stock)

The 8" and 9.5" ET68 were standard fitment on the Euro Cup cars as well (up until the 18" Speedlines were specified). They do come up for sale now and again - I picked up a second set last year. On the tyre side, I run the 225/255 Toyo R888s on these, works really well though you need to keep an eye on the presures - they go off very quickly if they get too high. I usually start at about 28psi front/26 psi rear cold for a dry track, and aim for around 30psi hot. On road keep to the standard 36/36, and take a tyre inflator to the track with you.

Thanks Bill,

I don't have the newer TSB. Although it is currently approved the original TSB doesn't show the 9.5 approved for the turbo and I still have no proof of a turbo or any widebody 964 ever being fitted with these wheels from the factory. All the technical info from the period specifies the 9" as the only fitment for the turbo.

Any chance you can post a copy of the 04 TSB. I am assuming the extra 5 after the 7.5 and 9 at the bottom is there to reference the footnote? All the technical info I have shows these as standard fitment for the RS since it references the magnesium wheel p/n.

Bull,

Any news on your new ride for next year? I guess an RSA didn't cut it after driving a cup car.

Bill as always many thanks.

Although I am surprised they are only showing the 17" wheels approved for the 964 turbo when the 94 964 turbo is approved and supplied with the 18" speedlines.

I always walk away from the approved info with more questions?

as said, IF you can find them RA1 are a great tire for performance vs wear. I abused a set last year and they lasted for 50 HC from full tread

The 1994 964 turbo(3.6) has it's own TSB, #9309 dated 8/5/93

Thanks I have that one and I also have another version of this TSB dated around that time. Will have to look up the # but it acknowledges the 94 along with the other models all in one.
