Please take a look at those Struts….they are correct at the yellow lines, but as you can see, the bowed washer will rest to low on the new one to the right…have I got the correct strut for my car? There are two bowed washer that should support the upper strut mount from each side. The one from underneath will fall down……I have checked the number in different catalogues…I have purchased Sachs 170 152 and every source leads to this number!
Please some advise…..

The only thing I can think of, is that you bought the struts for the older 964's. Rear struts changed sometime in MY91 and you may have bought the earlier version.

I'm afraid you bought the "MY91 manufactured until november 1990" i think which are larger than MY91 manufactured after that date, see photos:
