Kevin did make a suggestion soon after the Windmill Inn meet about having one at the Crooked Billet but there didn't seem to be a lot of enthusiasm at the time.
I think the problem this time of year is the weather. Lots of people will say they will come - but if it rains on the day everybody stays at home.
It'd be good to have a meet a little further North. The one we had north of Leicester back in May was very well attended but it WAS a cracking day weather-wise.
Let's have some opinions. Preferences for location and dates.
Hi guys, possible location, consulting in a little pub in suburbia, Addlestone. 5 miles from the A3/M25 junction. No decent coffee, instant, but I can guarantee excellent bacon butties.... R
My feeling is that with the less predictable weather at this time of year small, local meets will work best. I'm happy to travel up to 2 hours south which puts me in the Coventry, Leicester, Northampton triangle. Similar to what Chris says above really.
I think Donington would be a great idea - particularly if we could organise it coincident with a track day. When we did that at Brands it made for a very successful day. Anybody got any dates???
I just had a chat to Donington on the 'phone and they are happy that we could just turn up. Historically our meetings have usually been on a Sunday and that is no problem for them. They don't need any advance warning, the restaurant is open every day as is the Grand Prix exhibition (£7 entrance fee applies).
There is a Car Boot sale there every Sunday but it's held at the opposite end of the circuit so it wouldn't interfere with us.
They sound pretty accomodating and I'm guessing we could get a section of the car park cordoned off if we wanted.
I've no idea when/if there are any suitable track days (if that was wanted as an added attraction) but I'm sure SteveB might be on top of that one.
Can we get much enthusiasm from those "darn Sowf"?? Would make for a good number if North and South can meet up.
