Alternator trouble
My alternator is making a very “birdish” sound. First I thought it was some off the belts, but they are in good condition, and the tension is right.. I think it must be the bearings on the shaft…… Anyone how has removed them…and knows the measurement off them, so I can by them at a local bearings specialist?

There are bearings of the alternator shaft itself, but there is also a bearing between the two pulleys that permits the alternator to turn faster than the fan. My suggestion is to take the belts off, and feel each shaft as you turn it. Use "safe cracker touch" - a bad bearing can be subtle. It is bad if the feel is not completely smooth. Push, pull, and apply side load. If that does not identify the bad bearing, put the pulleys back on, and use a rope to give each bearing a fast spin. The noise can be rubbing of the rotor on the housing, or perhaps a leaf or piece of plastic is inside getting rubbed. It the noise is loud enough to bother you, it should be easy to find.
Good luck
