Thumbs up Brad Penn 20W50 Vs Mobil1 15W50 Drip tray test

My drip tray after a 1 hour drive in traffic on a 35C hot summers day after changing to Brad Penn with a big difference in my "oil leak" and it seems to actually be Mobil1 that might have been clinging on beforehand as the Brad Penn is a totally different colour. I might be fooling myself that my engine leaks are finally back to a tolerant level or better still over time may actually vanish when the Mobil1 is totally flushed out during the next couple of oil changes. Will report any oil leaks when I take the car on the next long distance run soon. So far so good, I so happy as the engine seems to run very smooth and quiet at idle and even though the engine temp is a little warmer the oil pressure light that illuminated sometimes with Mobil1 at hot idle has ceased. This stuff has my vote, I'll be back !

Interesting. I switched my Triumph TR6 over to Mobil 1 on the last oil change just because that is what I had handy as I was using it in my BMW. I immediately noticed that the TR6 (which has always leaked oil) started leaking much more oil. For all its life, it has run on traditional dyno oil. I think the Mobil 1 was too slippery for the seals/gaskets in the TR6. I'm going to switch it back to dyno oil on the next change. Probably Swepco 306 since that's what I run in my 911.

Mark
Is that puddle of oil in the corner JUST from that run? Or are we to look at the rest of the pan where it doesn't show drops?

Don't forget the slight viscosity difference but FWIW at the ALMS race at RA this month the first question to the Mobil rep was this one (M1 in older P-cars).

In 25 words or less he advised older engines use V-Twin and not M1.
He did not mention Brad Penn oddly enough which is what I've been using for the last year or so.
