I am not aware of a 15w40 Mobil 1 synthetic...If you mean 5w40 M1 Delvac or TSUV then yes, it is one of the better oils available. There are plenty of UOA's on bobistheoilguy.com or do a search on Rennlist forums for "Doug Hilary". He has run it for years and is very knowledgeable.

interesting, we have 15w40 Mobil conventional and 5w40 synthetic. Must be a Canadian only oil!

Seen it at Wal-Mart as well and almost decided to use it, but ( here we go again), I read that diesel oils contain much higher levels of calcium, a detergent which is needed due to the soot diesels produce. In some engines (ours?) the higher calcium levels in the oil can actually be a detriment (more wear). I know, careful what you read on the 'net'....

I stuck to what the engine has been using most of it's un-rebuilt 72000 mile life, M1 15W50 (now in SM).

Doug Hillary, you out there for a comment/clarification?

Funny.... I was killing time waiting for my daughter to finish practice and stopped in Wallymart lastnight... looked at the same oil but wasn't sure. Will be interesting to see what folks have to say. They also carry 15W-40 Delvac 1300 Super.
