Monday memories
Well, we took the P-car out Saturday when my scheduled photo shoot bailed on me. We took my daughter for her first top-down ride, about 30 miles away for breakfast. She loved it

she fell asleep on the way back home, which was cool too. The motor/g-pipe doesn't bother her at all
Any of you make memories over the weekend?

My first Time Trials with the incredibly friendly Maverick Region.
What a great group to be around. Makes it worth the 260 mile drive/trailer from San Antonio.
HOWEVER, unfortunately I had the same results as in an my first AutoX with them back in the Spring: Valve train noise and obvious damage after only the first series of laps! Man I need to hire a better mechanic.
Since there was oil leakage first, then noise some significant time later, I've theorized that one of the rocker shafts backed out of the cam housing, even though I installed all new shafts and through bolts and carefully torqued them to spec. during my Spring repairs. I did not need another experience like this. The Spring AutoX event wound up being about $250 / minute counting gas there and back, trailer rental, repair parts, etc. I'm really not in that income bracket! I'm thinking that amount of money could buy a real fun time - that doesn't involve cars - in Las Vegas.
The Spring AutoX breakage turned out to be a mysterious piece of metal that looked like 1/2 of a valve keeper set that had worked its way down between the intake valve and seat on #2. Must have been dropped into an intake and left there by the previous mechanic beacuse I accounted for all of my parts during last year's repairs. Surprisingly, no real damage, but I used the engine-out experience as an excuse to replace rod bearings, wrist pins, rocker shafts / through bolts and valve springs. Most everything else had already been done last year.
Even considering the continued "bad luck", I am HOOKED on the Time Trial format. Much longer course, faster speeds and multiple laps all result in more fun than those patking lot AutoX's. If I could just get an entire event in, maybe some day I could move up to a DE!
It will take a few days to get my spirits up enough to take a look inside the cam housings.

PCA Timeline event (my car was 1 of 2 964's on display) coupled with Oktoberfest in the local mountains. I posted a pic in the Random 964 Picture Thread

More track time for me. I spent Saturday at the track.
The more I do it the more I like it.
Just not sure I want to keep doing it with this car. I am getting faster.... Guess that's why it gets more addicting.
Decisions decisions...
