I disagree with this statement. Remember that once upon a time, pre-1973 911's had "no value" either. Now they are worth serious money. And not just the "S" versions. E's and even T's (that no one used to want) are fetching big bucks. A car's future value is a function of many factors including (but not limited to) age, production volume, uniqueness (options, color, etc), condition, and originality. Is a 964 C2 ever going to be worth what a 965 turbo is worth? Or a 1989 speedster? No. But they will almost certainly be worth a lot more someday than they are now. History has proven this out. Remember that there were relatively few 964's built compared to SC's and even the later models. And the 964's that will fetch the most will be the unmolested survivors.

Having said all of this, it is his car. He can do whatever he wants with it and there is no law against it. Each to their own. We're just here for editorial comment...

Well a 964 may be worth something one day but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it.

If you think I'm being 'silly' reference todays other thread where the guy bought a 964 for 10k, was dissapointed it wasn't perfect and got another 1k knocked off the price.

Agreed that the Strosek kit is an abomination and a 959 conversion will make your car into a fake.

However, being a long-term owner of a 964 myself (I've owned my C2 cab for over 8 years), I'm sympathic to the desire to update your existing car rather than buying an already-done car, even if it makes more economic sense to take the latter approach.

How about a steel widebody conversion instead:

Ya know, I honestly think these cars are works of art. I just don't get the need to make huge cosmetic changes. Its the most beautiful shape I've ever seen;timeless and I can stare at it all day long. I especially like the 964 because it smooths out the classic 911 lines without the tacky 80's accordion bumper bumpers etc. The early pre '74 cars and the 964 are the best looking cars ever made imo.

I agree but the only thing more beautiful than a narrow body 964 is a widebody 964 with factory flares and wing.....

For $3500-$4500 US you could buy all steal factory widebody parts and plastic.
(used of course)

You would need:

2 widebody front fenders
2 widebody rear quarters
widebody front bumper, and left / right bottom pieces
widebody rear bumper ends
2 widebody side skirts

the real expense starts with the installation.

That would be if one prefers one's ladies on the weightier side, would it? My baby has perfect hips and doesn't need to gain any more weight

959 is my favorite...

but I would never even think of using any kit on my car.

my 964 which I had for almost 5 years andcovere more than 450.000 klms....was original look even after that high mileage....

harris

i would spend any $$$ to bring my car to orinal LIKE NEW look...

in general any money should be spent as restoration and not as transformation...

but again the answer to topic is 959 over strosek if this was the only way to go

The difference here is that the Strosek kit is exactly what it purports to be: A 911 with a bodykit; its not everyones cup-of-tea but it doesn't really make a statement about its owner other than their taste in styling. On the other hand the 959 kit is pretending to be something that it isn't hence incredibly tacky (just my opinion of course!)
