Default 1992 C2 - Switch light for headlights

The wiring diagram for the 1992 C2 does not show a wiring connection to pin 31 on the headlight switch. This means the bulb in the light switch will not work as originally wired. Has anyone found a suitable source of power to solve this problem?

The bulb in the light switch was deleted by Porsche because it gets too hot when on.

I know on the 993 there is backlighting on the headlight switch any time the key is on. I wonder if there are different part #'s for the switch on the 964 & 993? The 993 switch part # is 993 613 513 00. Here is a thread from the 993 forum.

Here are the correct bulbs. These are lower power than originals and NEVER get hot!

I simply connected #31 to the chassis (anywhere) with a piece of wire. But I'm not 100% sure: memory starts failing...

Blue-sky positing, here: a (modern) mini 12V LED would work quite nicely in place of a 'too hot' incandescent design.

agree, but wouldn't the LED give off a cold bluish tint, while incandescent would be a soft yellow?

I thought it was beacuse it caused a reflection right in the line of view to the door mirror that it was disabled.

that's also what I knew...

anyway, a lower-power bulb/led will fix both issues

connected mine up so that it is only lit up when the lights are turned off.
Might got he LED route though as it is quite bright, and probably is a little warm for the plastic.
