Default New speakers sound problem

I need some help. I removed the rotted speakers today from and attempted to install Infinitys 5.1 components. I matched up all the wires with the tweeter, woofer and the new crossover. Struggled but got everything semi mounted back together (just to test). The result - well lets just say less than ideal. The new speakers sound almost worse - the only way I can describe it is NO deep sound what so ever. The woofer and tweeter sound the same. Am I missing something?? I left the factory amp and radio alone. Please help!

Did you remove the old crossover from the circuit? The cross-over frequency for the factory crossover is not even close to the same as the infinity settings. You are probably blocking a wide band of middle frequencies. that would sound terrible.

I installed Infinities, and other than lack of low end, they sound pretty good on the factory amp.

I did remove the factory crossover - and matched up the orginal wireing. The Infinity crossover has a couple of jumpers - but they didnt seem to make a difference. I am assumeing when wireing the speakers that the colored wires are the positve and the brown wires are neg.. Do I have this backwards? I played with the radio controls last night and the orginal blown speakers sound better.

you may need to mount the woofers. they use the air space behind them to reproduce the lower frequencies.

Thanks for all the good advice - I found the problem! It helps when you are wireing the crossover to make sure that the amplifier wire is wired to the amplifier and not to the woofer! Duh! Oh they sound much better than the old rotted speakers. However they seem to breakup at high volume a bit - is that because of the crappy amp?

most people have an aftermarket amp in the front storage area.

Mine do too. More power would definately help.
