I don't know what computer it is, but the computer in the passenger side of the front trunk, by the spare. It has a big long harness that clips into it so I assume it's the car's main DME. I unplugged it, and noticed a fat blob of blue/green/white corrosion like you'd see on battery terminals. I scraped it away to find that 3 pins were disintegrated and gone.
The car had some warning lights on before, like ABS, center diff/awd, and I think some others. I thought there were real problems with the car but I'm guessing corroded DME pins might contribute to the warning lights.
So I don't suppose there's any way to fix this? Any DME gurus or experts out there to advise (or even repair)? Anyone have a 964 C4 DME for sale?
Sorry for the crappy cellphone pic.

That's the connector for the ABS. Looks like (based on your cell photo) pin #8,9,10 are gone.
#8 not used, #9 Ground for sensors, #10 Speed sensor output for right rear.
What's the sticker on it say for a part# ?

Thanks guys, good to know it's not the DME. Well now I know why the ABS light was on! I took the harness and opened it up, to fish out those 3 broken pins. One was unused, the next crumbled, and I blew it out, and the last was an official PITA to get out. One socket broke apart from corrosion and another doesn't look too great so I want to replace both of them (the female connectors in the harness). Looks straightforward, just a matter of sourcing those special female spades. My brother told me they stock them at VW dealers... I will have to investigate this further.
Anyone know how to repair pins on an ABS computer? Or does anyone have one for sale?
I'll check back and see which # pins they were.

It reminds me of someone with their front teeth knocked out. Too bad these aren't baby teeth that will grow back...

I found a used one for $1400 locally. That seems outrageous to me. Is that what these are really worth?
Is this ABS computer used in any other models like a 944 or 928?

If you have a source for the female spades and can fix the plug, then consider fixing the corroded male parts. Crack open the shell and see what you got...there are other pins not being used.
$1400 is someone's boat payment, not a n ABS controller. Keep looking.....
