Default G pipe

any of you that are thinking about this mod for your car need to check out FVD Brombacher....their prices on the G pipe and the bypass pipe are the best I have found by quite a bit

http://www.fvd.us/us/?Forwarding=no

they are sponsors here and seem to have some very nice stuff.

I have a Dansk G pipe and I do like the loud aspect/decent ear candy, but it does sound a bit like a camaro really, not very sophisticated.

Do you know, does the cup pipe sound better? Should I switch?

Can't say that I know about the sound difference between the two pipes, but there is supposed to be a difference in the performance range of each. I have a G-pipe too and what I have noticed other than that it is very loud is that the tone of the boxer engine does sound much like a Subie WRX. Not really the sound that I want for the 964 but I guess boxer engines have a characteristic exhaust note. I plan to leave it on though as it really makes a difference in engine response more that any real performace improvement.

do you do any AXing or track duty with your car?

I am the PCA-GGR competition director and don't recall seeing another 964 at any of our events.

No,

Not enough time or funds to let myself catch the track bug. If I ever I do it I am sure ther will be no going back to a normal street car existence.

I bought the FVD G-pipe - they have a hell of a price.

I installed it and drilled out my air-box lid. I am not sure if I notice any real performance improvement (other than the aforementioned throttle response) but it sure sounds great winding out 4th gear on approach to turn 1 at Willow Springs!

I'd actually prefer a little more sound and am considering also ditching the primary muffler in favor of a primary bypass + G-pipe set up. My tolerance for motor sound is high but that set up may cross the line. Anyone have any experience with this?

when I bought my car it already has the carbon fiber air intake in place of the stock air box top...
it has a nice intake sound at around 3500-4000 RPMs so with the addition of the G pipe I am expecting it to have a little low end bark...

We're around, usually at other events. Actually took RSA #2 out of the backyard and over to the shop last weekend so I can strip the interior and send it off for a cage sometime!

I think you will get the low end bark you seek. My only issue so far is at certain speeds on the freeway the resonance can be a bit too much in conjunction with tire and road noise.

IMO, the G-pipe + primary by-pass is WAY too loud, and not a nice loud. I tried both, and changed back after one 10-minute drive.

I'm on my way!....Just need to fix some nagging leaks so I don't get black-flagged.

mine is coming directly from Germany....won't be here until the end of the month...
