Default Blower assembly

Does anyone have any ideas why the boot does not want to mate up with the tube? It does not even appear to be made to fit the tube. Is something maybe on wrong?

Thanks

Mine is the same way. I finally gave up trying to get them connected.

It's like it deformed from heat or something. Does that feed air into the cabin?

Aeroman & Duck,

By chance is the blower an original or has it been replaced? The original has a 964 part number and the replacement units start with 993 numbers. The 993 units have bolt bushings that are longer than the 964 units. This is described in detail in Adrian's book. My cab's blower had been replaced by the dealer and the connection at the fan housing wouldn't line up. I removed it, trimmed the bushings to the original size and the blower lines up perfectly.

Its not obvious that the bushings are different but the extra length makes a big difference in the fit.

Thanks Rocket. I was looking at a write up on that on Pelican this morning. I am pretty sure mine is stock. What is appears to be to me is the rubber boot has twisted or deformed. I need to find someone in Seattle that has a 964 and take a close look at theirs.

Thanks

dumb question, but did you try fitting the rubber over the blower pipe before fitting the bolts to the fan shroud? I had to do that first, allowing me to rotate the rubber around the blower tube shape to make it fit. Then you put the bolts in...

Not sure if this addresses your problem.. but it was how I got mine to fit.

I was looking at that today. I think I will try that. Dang AC tubes in the way to make it rough though.

Something is off. Mine is an easy fit - the rubber cuff is not stretched to fit over both flanges. Perhaps get the rubber cuff out of the way, and then see what needs to be done to get the parts to line up. Only after the fit is right, install the rubber.

Thats the problem, the cuff is no longer the correct shape so the only way it will go on is to stretch it appears. maybe I can get a new rubber boot?

Too late -- you've already talked yourself into it.
Besides, it's not that prohibitively expen$ive for a brand new, pliable, perfect replacement. $48 at the pelican. 964.106.403.02

submit -- resistance is futile...

Tried this it did not work.
Will be interested to know if a new cover will solve this, it looks like a few of us have this problem.

Just tried Sunset website and wasn't able to dig up that part, or that price.
Where'd you go? Or was this thru a phone call?
