Default Sliders for Recaro Seats

My new Recaro Pole Positions will be here soon and I need to decide the best way to mount these things. As far as sliders go, I've read everything from Sparco, Recaro to stock 996 work but what is the best solution? The Sparco sliders are pretty cheap at about $50 each but I swear I read somewhere that they require some modifications. I don't mind drilling some extra holes or doing some minor modifications, but I want a fairly easy install. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks

The mod regarding the sparco slider is simple. You have to spread them further apart and for that to be achieved, you either need to buy the tube/handle from BK or make your own.

Did you get the side mounts or are you going to mount them from the bottom? and which mount are you going to use for the inner belt latch?

I'm using a standard recaro side mount. I'm going to have to fab something up for the factory latch. I think I'll try and roughly replicate how the latch is on a euro GT3 seat. One of my co-workers has that setup and it's pretty clean.

I've done a little more research and by the time I buy the Sparco sliders and the BK tubes, I'm up to the price of a Recaro slider. I thing I'm gonna get these unless anyone thinks I should go a different direction.

If I understand your inner latch mounting problem correctly this may help. A while ago somebody posted this section from the seat PET that shows the factory part for mounting the inner latch with racing buckets. I saved the picture, but didn't note who posted it. Props to them whoever they were. Getting a couple of these may be easier than making them yourself.

Good luck with the mounts, I don't know anything about those...

James

I just bought a Pole Position for my Carrera 3.2 and from my understanding, there can be variation from car to car, or perhaps year to year. Some owners of 70's cars said that their Pole Positions with Recaro side mounts bolted directly to factory sliders.

See this post that I posted elsewhere: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...=pole+position

I'm also waiting for my PPs to arrive and have the same issue about sliders. This thread in the DE forum is also very useful:

my recaro's bolted straight to recaro mounts, then straight to the floor, no sliders, but surely if the bolt to the floor, they'd bolt to the sliders, maybe with a few new holes?

So you went for the PP's in the end Steve...

You saying i've got a fat ***?

I went for PPs so I could get them in leather and suede as I'm after the half track / half tourer holy grail. For us in the UK, Southbound can provide suitable sliders. I could modify my existing manual ones but they're not double locking (from what I'm told) and therefore not ideal.

Why not use the Recaro sliders shown in upper left corner here http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3820&region=3&L=2

These are identical the sliders supplied by Porsche for the Carrera Cup racing cars, they don't foul the crotch belt, and they are relatively cheap.

By the way, with the factory bucket seat mounts, the part circled below runs under the seat and fouls the crotch belt. The Recaro race sliders make a nice replacment for the stock parts if you use a 6 point harness. There is some drilling of the sliders required though.

The b & K mounts lower the seat down. I have B & K mounts with the tube and sparco sliders. All I had to do was drill one hole in each of the sliders and they went in like a treat.

I have a single BK mount and sliders for sale. Looking for $100 shipped OBO...need to clear out.

Condition is good but may need a quick respray if you are a perfectionist. I believe the BK mounts also give more positioning options than a factory mount.

Ok guys. Went for the Recaro sliders. Now I'll just have to improvise the sub belt bar and stock seat belt latch. I'll post pictures of what I come up with.

Thanks!
