Default Caliper Restoration & Repaint - UK?

Has anyone used the BigRed restoration service in the UK? What is your opinion?

It seems you send the calipers (to Worcester) They strip down, thoroughly clean, recoat in a resistent polymer in red, blue, green or black (not yellow it seems), rebuild with all new gaskets etc, hydaulically test and guarantee for 12 months and send back for refitting.

Are there other UK companies offering a similar service? Your views most welcome.

Ian.
I used big red to powder coat my calipers. I stripped mine down completely myself so all they did was the powder coating but the guy was very helpful and a pleasure to do business with.

ps the Porsche logo stickers I got from ebay for a few quid. was doubtful of them but nearly a year on they are still there looking like they did when I first stuck em on saved a lot of time using a stencil and white paint

heres a pic for you when I installed them

A friend of mine used them last year and it turned out a disaster. They came back looking 10 times worse. He couldn't give those calipers away now. I will see if I can find some piccies and show you! You will run a mile!!!

thats interesing. I dropped my calipers off there and picked them up each time there were plenty of calipers they were doing/in the process of doing and all looked fine. I also checked their reputation before I even went down there.

to the OP. I belive neinmeister offer the service of painting calipers and I'm sure they will do a brilliant job will probably be quite pricey though.

I used them to refurb my calipers, only thing I did before I sent them was remove the spring plates. If the calipers are corroded under the plates, powder coating them makes them look better. I was very happy with the results.

I used Bigred and was more than happy with the service.
Although did take a while as he had issues removing the plates

Maybe they are in new ownership? They stated to my friend that they hated doing alloy calipers and hoped not to see any again. Interesting as I need a set of four doing and wondered who to turn to as big red seems to be one of the only companys out there doing it.

Thats understanable I had a right battle getting the plates off. Also I had a battle getting the dust seals and pistons out.

typicaly I worked out how to do the pistons resonably well on the last caliper.

also becasue I stripped off the tranfer tubes for them they returned the calipers as I had sent them they just sent me some straight pipes which I had to bend into shape. I made a good job of it but was worried I would knacker it up. caused me a bit of stress

If I had to do it again I would just drop them off and let them do all the hard work.
