Default Any Experience w/KW Coilovers ???

Wonder if anyone is running or has run w/the KW Varient 3?

I'm considering pss10's, H&RSupercup or the KW V3's.

Any comments welcome.

Are you considering JIC's? They are well regarded too.

I agree with Marc - why isn't the JIC Magic at the top of your prospect list? Now I know why Cross puts the word Magic with their suspension, it really is amazing.

Every now and then I see a discount on these - just have to shop around.

Did plenty of research on JIC and can get them at a fantastic price, but they did not make the cut.

Inquiring minds want to know. What was it that caused the JICs to miss the cut?

I was just talking to my chief wrench yesterday about switching from JIC to Motons and he suggested we consider KW as they provide good tech support (many Grand Am teams are running them). Is this for a track only car or track/street car?

Don't want to get into the JIC issues as there are lots of threads on that and it will surely take this thread where I don't want to go.

The car will be for street/track. KWs are considered in Europe a superior choice over Bilstein & H&R. In fact I think its founded by some Bilstein or H&R engineers. Guys I've talked to who use them on track are very happy. I'm looking to see if anyone is using them in mixed environment or even more track feedback. The ones I'm looking at are the Varient 3 or V3s.

I'm using the H+R supercups and I'm happy with them and they seem to get the thumbs up from experienced instructors and the like but since I haven't used any of your other choices I can't really compare.

They're a bit hard for street use unless your roads are smooth and flat.

I looked into the V3's but could not find someone (here or elsewhere) that used them- as I was not into pioneering and already used JICs on another car successfully, in the end went with JICs again. If they are as good as the JICs and are well priced you'll have to spend a lot more (read: Motons) to do much better.

Get them and tell us how you like them.

I have KW V3s on my 964 and love them. I have also owned H&R, PSS9, Moton, Ground Control, etc. Let me know if you have specific questions about the V3 kit.

How do they compare vs. Motons?

I have herd that V3 are very mild coil overs like PSS9. If you want something more hardcore like JIC or even motons, you'll need to get the 2 ways or 3 ways competition series. The variants are for street use.

Yes and no. The V3s spring rates are similar to the PSS9s but the dampers and valving are far superior plus the dump and rebound are independently adjustable, unlike the PSS9s silly ****. Additionally KW is happy to sell you different spring rates to be used with the V3 kits and my kit has custom front rates.

If you want a hardcore package from KW just order their Club Sport package which is based on the V3 double-adjustables but with much more aggressive damping and spring rates. All the V3 kits included monoball rear upper mounts.

Other than the JICs including camber plates I can't imagine not buying the KWs.
