Post Scantool v.4 output interpretation

I've been trying to figure out the Scantool (v.4) outputs recently.
(Scantool's very helpful, but I was clueless when it was describing things or making mysterious devices on my car go whir/click/ or ?. And I hated that clueless feeling.
So, like Wilford Brimley's character in "The Thing" -- I've been busy...)
These (below) are my Scantool interpretation results, so far.

Here's where I need help.
Wherever you see question marks, that's a place where I couldn't dig up background info or am unsure of my research.
PLEASE volunteer info where you see errors, holes in logic, or have any further morsels.
My best hope is to make this a community work in progress...

This is the biggest void of info I came upon. Please help fill in this data. I've a feeling it's very important in troubleshooting climate control/fan sensors.

Hi

Great info - very useful, but no replies to the all important question - did you get any info about the data outputs of the CCU - surely it's available - perhaps one is the cabin temp, another the oil cooler temp etc..... ?

Best,

Andy

...from your keyboard to God's ear! (or, some CCU-savant Rennie's ear.)

I'm still wholly ignorant of what they stand for.
All we lack is that CCU Rosetta stone. Something that's not a brick wall.

...and don't call me Shirley.

Default Strange 965 Scantool Codes

elbeee964,

Great info. I have the interface and its utility made a big jump when I read this.

BTW I was asked to reset an airbag fault on a club member's 92 Turbo today. Of course since this is a CIS car there is no Motronic info but, curiously, although there were a number of stored faults in for the CCU and the one for the Airbag, they all were listed with numbers higher than those in your list and all were tagged as "Unknown fault code". Does anyone know if there was a different numbering scheme for the Turbos?

In any case I was still able to reset the faults but it looks like some more research is required for the Turbo models.

Ciao!

Default Scantool Test Outputs - ABS/Traction Control

I finally hooked up my USB-Serial adapter and connected the Scantool to my new 93 C4. No codes on anything but the Climate Control. Now that I found the list for the CCU test outputs, I will go thru it again and see what is and is not working.

But, the interesting thing I may have discovered...
I tried the "Test Outputs" when on the ABS/Traction Control page, and the system sounded like it was cycling the PDAS locks. Does anyone know what the Test Outputs are actuating? IF it is the PDAS differential locks, this may be the tool to aid with bleeding of the diff locks. My current procedure involves cycling the console switch on - crack bleeders - squirt - close bleeders - cycle switch off - repeat. (and is a RPITA if I do not have a helper to run the switch) The "Test Outputs on ABS/Traction Control cycled the locks at a frequency that would allow me to do the bleeding while remaining under the car. I am surprised no one has mentioned this.

Now, the one that I did NOT try was "Test Output" on "SRS Air Bag" I did not want to experience a test of the air bags. Any ideas what this might do?

Hi Darrell,

Is your scantool able to connect to your ABS/PDAS controller?

I'm sure mine used to, but now all it does is sit saying "connecting..." and never changes to "connected". I do hear the locks activating while it tries to connect though.

Thanks,

Adam

Yes, it shows "connected" - in that it reports any codes (none present on mine). And, I hear the locks activating when I perform the test. I am just unsure what it is doing under Test - if it is just PDAS locks, or if it is doing something with ABS. If it is cycling the PDAS locks, then this will be handy for bleeding of the locks.

According to the Workshop manual the "Ecu inputs" (Channels 1-8) for "CCU System" could be:

- Voltage TermX
- Inside temperature
- Rear temperature
- Mixing chamber temperature left
- Mixing chamber temperature right
- Oil temperature
- Evaporator temperature (only H04)

H04 is Heating and air conditioning regulator
