Default My Throttle Cable Shrunk

Pulled the entire intake system to clean and replace a few split hoses. Put it all back together late last night and the throttle cable holds the car at 2000 rpm - about a 1/4 inch from idle position. Pulled the cable off and everything is normal. Definitely created a problem when reconnecting. Too tired and dark to dig into it last night.

Probably something simple that I will find tonight but bored at work so I thought I would throw out this post to get feedback.

I made sure the grommet was properly seated in the bracket in the back.

Anyone else run into this?

Chris

If necessary go under the trans and adjust the cable length just like when you fit a new throttle cable .

Jim talks the straight poop, I tink, Geoff.

It wouldn't seem simple disassembly would effect reinstalled length -- and re-adjusting to conteract a slight misassembly, tempting as it is "to get the show on the road" -- is bad juju, Bwana.

Found it last night. Thought I would post for future "searchers".

The connection between the metal channel and the plastic sleeve was separated down near the front end of the tranny. Must have been tugging too hard up top. Popped the plastic sleeve back into the metal tube and the 1/4" slack was gone instantly.
