Default Your thoughts on the value of this car?

Hey guys,

I have to opportunity here in Oregon to buy a 1990 C2 that has 175K on it. It has a new motor with 12K(owner has receipts for motor work.) This car is pretty attractive to me because its about the same price as other cars with 100-150K. Additionaly, I'm going to be doing quite a few track days and a high mile motor makes me a little nervous anyway.

So, what do you guys think? Should I go for the car with a new engine? What is a decent value for a car like this? Is this car going to be impossible to sell when the chassis has 200K with a newer motor?

Thanks for your help.

High miles is not just about a high mileage motor. High miles wears everything - and many of those things WILL reqire replacement.
From what I've seen the price difference between 60-70K cars ($24-28) to 130-160K ($18-$20) cars isn't that great. I'd wait and spend for a lower mileage car - track or street...

I should also add that I am going to add JIC's, brakes, etc. So Im not terribly concerned about some of the usual components that might be worn with this kind of milage.

the engine is the main wear point. If you will be replacing he suspension, then it is certainly worth looking at.
