'91 964 air conditioning questions

Sorry to pull up that old topic.
As we moved from the Northwest to Charleston, I am desperate to have a working AC.
My question is if it is still possible to have my car charged with r-12 as it is not converted yet?

Yes, you should still be able to refill with R12 provided you can find some cans of refrigerant. I'm about to go down this same route since I'm in Texas, and the temps are getting into the upper 90's. If the system is free of leaks, I personally wouldn't change. In my experience, R12 usually has slightly cooler outlet temps, as well.

There is no "time" to change from R12.......
As said it is more efficient and cheaper to use than doing a conversion.
My '92 had the evaporator leak not long after I bought her. Got the updated unit from Griffiths and had my local HVAC shop do the work. Stayed with R12. The AC is VERY good ! Even on a recent trip up Californias central valley. Hot outside, nice inside.
