Only one upgrade please ...Headers or LSD
Ok,
I want to do one more upgrade for this year, I am out of Porsche budget money after this.
So I am torn between which will give me the most bang for the track this summer. Cost of install is a issue as well.
1.NEW LSD but how much is the install cost
2. NEW headers the install cost is about $350
so what do you think , I was planning on the headers but this has been in the back of my mind..

Well it seems like the LSD would pay big dividends on the track by improving the handling and ablity to power out of corners as well as having better control entering them. The cost of installation is a factor though since it is not a simple DIY. The headers are easy enough to put in yourself and may or may not actually give more power but would cost less (maybe since some dyno time to get all the power you can would be ideal). I know if I had to choose it would be the LSD. I think it would make more sense to be able to use more of what I already had in terms of power instead of trying to make more power and not be able to get it to the pavement. Good luck with either route you decide on.

I would go with LSD. I was quoted 8 hours of labor to have it installed. The tranny needs to come out apparently. Unfortunately my budget is tight right now so the LSD is just sitting in the garage...

I think enabling would be arguing that you really can't enjoy the torque coming out of those curves with the LSD unless you have the headers to give you the better torque curve. Not doing both would really be throwing away your money, after all. You can't afford NOT to do them both, actually.
I didn't say it was factual... just enabling.

An LSD should not take more than 1-2 hours to install by anyone who knows what they are doing. You do not need to remove either the transmission or engine to do it and get the ramps set.
To get a real benefit from headers, you would want the chip programmed to take advantage of the change. Simply slapping the stock ECU onto my car with the headers made no improvement in hp. Once the MoTeC was added and proper programming/tuning performed, I got a lot more power.
I have a new LSD from a G50/32 (993 RS CS) in the classifieds. It's the 40/65 lockup instead of the street version 20/65. From Porsche it's $1995. I'll sell it for $1500.

Tom, if I can figure out a way to do it without removing the tranny I would. I've spoken to 3 highly knowledgeable shops in my area and they all recommend taking the transmission out

Tom,
I have been thinking about your LSD , and your are right I will get the chip reflashed , and that was the plan. I talked to John to put on the Dyno after the headers are on.
Tom,
Is your LSD the best option for me? Or is there a better one for the car like from GT ?
What is the differance in the GT ones and the Porsche units?
