Clutch guide tube question
I don't think I have the right guide tube.
I ordered part# 950.116.813.06, which I believe is supposed to be the updated version.
The throwout bearing part number, on the bearing, is 3151173202, which is the Sachs number.
The new guide tube is way too large. The flange mounting holes are even off.
The OD of the new guide tube is 1.568" (39.8mm) to old one is 1.331" (33.8mm).
The centerline to centerline distance of the mounting holes is off by 0.25" (6.3mm) on the new one as well.
My new TO Bearing has an ID of 1.268" (32.2mm)
I have seen web sites advertise guide tubes with 32mm in the listing. I assume this is the correct OD, since the ID of my bearing is 32.2mm.
Just want to make sure I am not missing anything, before I call Vertex.
Thanks.
Bill

Bill, make sure that you get the correct length one also. The one for a LWF is longer than the one for the Dual Mass unit. I do not have the part numbers handy but I'm sure that Bill Verburg does if you need them.

Bill,
Can you give us more details? Are you running the stock clutch & flywheel or the lightweight/RS version? The reason I ask is the correct guide tubes vary depending.
The tube on the left in your picture is not not correct for the stock unit.

You were sent the wrong parts, the "updated" guide tube for the DMF has an outside diameter of 31.8mm and the LWF guide tube is 33.8mm. If you were to compare the thickness of the aftermarket Sachs clutch disc that you received and compared that with the clutch disc purchased from a Porsche dealership you'll likely find that what you received is also thinner. That is one reason why you're better off buying these directly from a Porsche dealership (the prices are about the same or they were)
