Top speed is something like 120 mph. RPM had one for sale for 2 years ... looks like it is no longer for sale. Very cool car. I wonder who the owner is ... Dave?

I was told the owner did that to make it easier to get into and out.

re the oil filler cap ... believe that's for access to the oil tank/dipstick. Kind of cool ... like a '72.

The car does not have a fuel cell.

Thumbs up

Hadn't thought along those lines till you brought it up, but, yeah -- it's too bad the 964 model line at introduction didn't resurrect that little bit of 911 nostalgia, via the '72's right flip-up door.
Would'a made perfectly good sense -- again -- with the oil tank's repositioning.
And a good retro tie against all that "85% brand new parts" model-introduction-talk.
(And ta hell w/ any nervous exec's hand-wringing over accidentally gas-filled oil tanks. Designers could come up with a "NO GAS HERE", fool-resistant mechanism, I'm sure...)

Thanks for memory ping, Dave.

Has anyone ever found out why they were built? Last I read up on them, no one seemed to know what the purpose was.

Really good pics of the cage. I am having one built to replicate that design. Shame i did'nt have those pics earlier. The joints around the top are interesting as i have never seen a close up of them(just guessing but they look like some form of slip or screwed in joint!!??? Preety sure that that's not just padding. would be a funny place to put it). My cage won't have the removeable door bars.
