Hey guys i am changing my clutch slave, it seems like it would be a lot easier if i connected it while the engine and tranny are out of the car and then hooked the hose up afterwords can i do this or should i swap it out after i have the engine back in the car???? Also are there any things that i need to look out for when i swap them out???
I can't think of any reason not to install it while everythings out .
"Also are there any things that i need to look out for when i swap them out???"
People have reported blowing the guts out of the cylinder by putting pressure into it before its really hooked up .
I found the easiset way was to hook the line to the slave first, and then install the line and slave as a unit. Whole job was left handed, but not really that hard to do in the car. Iirc, there are no swivels at either end of the clutch slave, so I don't think that putting it in the trans first would work. The easiest way would be replacing line and cylinder while out of car, and hooking slave to trans when that goes back in. 2 bolts to hold it to trans. Good luck.

I just replaced my slave line while the engine/trans was out for the clutch, and this is how I did it. Also, I bled the slave after I put in the trans mount bolts and before I fully jacked up the engine to afford a little more room.
Don't step on the clutch until you get the slave mounted to the trans.
