URGENT lock help please!
I have my 1990 C4 door in pieces on the drive at the moment.
This morning I placed my key into the lock ad the barrel came out with the key!
I couldn't lock the door so I have took the day off work and and striped the door down.
But now i'm stuck!
I thought i'd be able to get to to rear of the lock and screw it back into place.
I have no experience of locks but from the end of the barrel it looked as if it is held in place by some kind of retaining screw from the rear.
The Barrel will nolonger go into the door as is looks like the mechanism at the far end has dropped slightly out of line.
PLEASE what do I need to do? I have attached photos for easier explanation.
Just locking the door at the moment would be a bonus!!

Ok, there should be 4 pieces floating around somewhere in the bottom of the door.
There will be the little screw and serrated washer.
There will be a spring.
There will be the part that the screw holds into place. It will have the letter 'L' or 'R' on it for left or right hand door.

The screw thread on the back is usually for the actuating arm to fix to. It'll fit over the end of the rotating section of the barrel then a screw to hold it in place. The barrel however is usually held in place with a spring steel clip which slides over into a groove (maybe about where the white section of your barrel is). I'm assuming there is a steel cover over the lock assembly on the inside of the door ? Have you taken this off ?
I'm sure someone with direct 964 door lock knowledge will be along shortly, but they pretty much all operate on the same principles. I'll try to find a pic so you know what I mean Martin.
Hope you figure it out or get help so you can get it together in the daylight.

thanks guys,
So the handle has to come off to get to the lock.
I'll go see where the 4 bits have got to..
Once I get all these bits and the handle off, do I just assemble the lock on the handle and then just bolt it back in place?
Thanks again

Yes, put it all back together with the handle off the door.
Then reinstall the complete handle lock assembly.
Make sure you locate the spring.
It's what makes the key return to the vertical position when you've locked or unlocked it.

right I've found the 4 pieces!
mmm does anyone have a diagram of how it goes back together?
I can c that the barrel inserts with the plastic sleeve, then the square tip lines up with the square recess on the first piece of casting on the other side of the lock, can't work out here where the spring sits exactly, before the second piece of casting goes on last - does its little teeth line up with the teeth from the first casting - the spring enclosed between these two castings it appears to make the joint uneven. Then finally the screw.
I've noticed that when I put it together like this, when I insert the key and turn it, it loosens the screw.
I must have it together wrong.
Also after it's finally assembled (correctly!) what does it have to line up with within the door to operate the lock - there doesn't appear to be much scope on twisting the handle once u refix the clamp holding the wire in place for the central locking.
Sorry to ask sooo much but this is a bigger job than I thought and I really need a diagram to see the layout
