Default Tip shift hiccup

Hi All:

Just bought a stock 90 C2 964. Very clean and well taken care of.

I've noticed a strange hiccup that seems to occur regularly under certain situations.

A strange hesitation occurs right after shifting in to 2nd in M mode. Right after the shift from 1st, and when I'm right over 3000 RPMs there is a momentary power dip as if I've taken my foot off the gas.

It almost feels as the car wants to shift into 3rd prematurely or as if the car has a 2.5 gear (if that makes any sense). Its only a blip, but causes the tach to drop about 200-300 rpm during this point. Obviously with continued application of throttle it recovers within a second.

Is this a known characteristic of these era Tips?

I had a similar hesitation which was solved by replacing the coils.

Try unplugging the igniters one at a time and see if the car still starts and runs smoothly on each coil independently. This is a fair first test on the coils.

The following thread has pics: What effect to coils have on power?

Agreed, I believe that's the point that the torque converter "locks up".
