Default Clutch master cylinder leaking

Found a large damp patch of blue brake fluid in the floor pan this morning while trying to install a rennline track mat.

I had strange clutch problems in the summer, slipping, tough to engage 1st gear and I now suspect the master is leaking and could be causing the clutch problems.

Anyone confirm that a bad master could lead to slipping and shifting problems..has anyone had them and found a new master and slave and bleed fixed the clutch problems?

Seems like an easy switch out, anyone offer any advise?

Cheers

Mark

I don't think a leaking master could cause slipping .

It looks like an easy job but I found it to be a knuckle buster!!

If your clutch slips, usually that means it is worn out. If you have trouble engaging gears, that can be a hydraulic issue.

I have ordered a new master, slave and hose. See if that changes anything with a bleed. They are cheap, so who knows.

Thanks

Slave and line aren't too bad to do, just an all left hand job, so if you are left handed, you have a leg up. I found it was easier to tighten the line to the slave off of the car, and then put the whole thing in as a unit. Don't have any experience with the master, but that's next on the list. Good luck.
