Default Fuel Filter Replacement

I'm changing mine this week. Any words of wisdom? I have the Mahle replacement and the only thing I could think might be a problem (well, other than a minor explosion ) is accidently snapping the fuel line. I checked for a DYI but didn't see one.
Is it as simple as I'm making it out to be?
Also how do you guys recommending back flushing the old one for what's been filtered out? I was thinking just back flush with water?

Its not a hard filter to change out . The hose fittings are threaded on , so if you have the correct type wrench , its not a big deal . You will be dealing with raw gas , so don't blow up your car or burn your house down , have fire fighting gear at the ready .

If you cut open the filter , you can see whats in / on the filter .

Just clamp off the hoses nice and tight and all should be fine.
