Car in question is a '90 C2 with 75,000 miles. Any input is very appreciated!

No Issues. My father did it with his 92 C2 at about that mileage. My '94 runs Mobil One, but I don't know for how long.

The common wisdom is that switching to synthetic will cause oil leaks to develop in an air-cooled engine with some mileage accumulated because: (i) the detergent quality of the synthetic will cause the crud inside the engine to become dislodged, creating areas for oil to escape; and (ii) the synethic oil's molecules are smaller, allowing it to leak through smaller spaces. Since, once you've got oil leaks, the fixes are all very expensive, I've stayed with dino oil, even though synthetic is undoubtedly better oil.
