Default 964 TT update

I finally got some pics of the car as its back from getting its nip/tuck and off to paint. Had the rear flares widened about 1 3/4 to 2 inches. Rear reflector delete, non-sunroof, A-pillar drip rail delete, 935 mirrors and had the aluminum cage installed....a few other trick bits done that we'll save for the reveal.

I'll try and post some pics of it in the metal.

Pick of the a pillar w/the deleted drip rail. Flows well into the 935 mirror.

Iam into pulling the rear arches a little, good idea.

Thanks...Rob....Couldn't find anything as scary fast as this....and as good looking...so had to keep it!...hopefully when it is finished it will look even better. Waiting to have my Speedster seats reassembled w/new covering. Will post pics of those shortly.

Russ....didn't do the entire drip rail. Just the A pillar, like w/the 935. I bought a set of Ruf delete plates which I decided not to use and went all metal instead. Looks very good and leave much of the roof strength there. Even though I've got a cage in the car, I wanted the drip rails on.

i do have one question on the cage - Why Aluminium? it is not legal for anything except DE (i'm not even sure about that actually). I don't know if that is important or not, and they do not really provide any protection since it is so mallable.

They look very cool though

The aluminum cage is a very neat little bit of kit. Originally ordered from Ruf. As you know, Porsche used them in racing up until mid 80's and the material worked well at providing tortional rigidity and that's what its there for in my car...just to stiffen things up a bit. Its roughly 50lbs lighter than a steel cage of the same size which helps in my efforts to end up w/a light car. And yes, the aluminum looks really cool...Not going racing anywhere, may go to the track once in a while, so it works for me....Its just a 935 influencing bit that helps complete the theme of the car. If ever I need to I can replace it w/steel....but for now its perfect.

Aren't the reverse lights in the center reflector?

I like the look though.

I love this car.

There are lots of projects out there, many very well done. Mostly, to me, they are just another Porsche.

This particular car is cool for it's exterior minimalism, sheer scary power and humble beginnings. Hats off to you for this car and especially for your restraint in the right places and outright outrageousness at the engine.

Thanks guys. I really enjoy sharing it with you other 964 aficionados. The 64 is just such a great platform. Last of the hand built Porsches...and it shows everywhere.

I like how the 964 looks so I did not want to go too far away from that. I always wanted to keep it basicially what it was. The guy who did the body work even made the contours of the tail to match those of the rear bumper...it looks factory as it is quite different from an early tail.

Will post picture of my new plate tomorrow. Never been much for personalized plates, but thought this car deserved something special. It, like the rest of the car, is simple, yet tasteful (at least I think so).

By the way, Can't decide to go w/silver or black ruf wheels...any input is helpful. I have a set of each, but only one set is the custom size to fit the 295 under the rear....so I won't be swapping wheel back and forth...just one set + a set of custom lightweight CCWs....but that's another thing.

Thanks again for your enthusiasm and support.

Every time I see your car.......it reminds me that anything is possible..Even when going to incredible extremes....Plus its nice to see the improvements occuring on your car... expecially since it looks like mine.

I love the factory look of the 964 as well.... along with the sleeper look. It must be a fun surprise to the people who try to run your car and they get a surprise by football field lengths......

Here's the new plate. Never was one much for personalized plates and still feel a bit wierd about it...but what's done is done....if I decide I don't like it i can always send it back to DMV and probably reactive my oe plate.
