RSA with salvage title, good price?
Saw this for sale:
http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/car/486247232.html
and am wondering if the price is worth the trouble of getting it to CA. And has anyone brought in a Canadian car that is aware of the pitfalls?

That's a good price in my book if everything checks out. And the Speedlines are a big plus!
I don't like the fact that "It has some minor damage on it, very repairable." - who knows what that means...

From the pictures it looks to be passenger side damage to the door area. Problem is, althought the buy-in price is attractive, and assuming I did the body/cosmetic work and there were no mechanical surprises, I suspect the salvage status on the title will negate all that upon resale.

This car reminds me of a car that was previously on the RSAmerica.net website and ebay as totalled in the rear. A track event I think it was.
The mileage is about right and the car at that time was in Seattle so close enough. And the color is right.
I can't find the link that was on the RSA website but I bet it's the same car.
For that price you can get a high mileage example or a car like this with a salvage title. Either way it's a great car.

The salvage title will always limit the value of this car. Buy it if you want to track the car and don't care about future value. I owned a salvage title car once (P-car), and in the end, the perceived value I thought I was getting for the cheap price never turned into a positive when I sold it. Track it and enjoy it for what it is, but don't buy it thinking you'll make money on it. It doesn't work like that.

B.Kish - Thanks! This is what I love about Rennlist, it's a small world.
I wasn't looking at it for a track car and with the stigma of salvage cars these days I will stay away from it me thinks.

Those are not real Speedline wheels or even RH replicas. They are a cheap Japan made rim. Very low milage though. Might be a good deal.
Sure doubt if it is the same car that was wrecked that was posted on RSA.net

Yeah, maybe not the same car. Didn't remember it being quite so bent up. The mileage was similar and the proximity was close so I figured what are the chances of two very low mileage, red RSA's with salvage titles within two hours of one another.

Don't know if I can get one for $26K even with higher miles but the questionable history, import headaches and salvage status just don't seem to warrant it.

I sold my RSA for 22k with a salvage title. Mine had frame damage and 71k miles. Assuming the frame is straight on this one, and considering the milage it looks like a good price.

I can live with the salvage title if I know what was orginally damaged but with both the salvage and getting it into the country it would probably be more trouble than its worth. Anybody brought in a Canadian car?

I have had a little contact with the seller, and am waiting for a bit more info. There may be a few odd things about it: see photo below, which speak for themselves.
