Default Dry Salt

Hey guys,

Well the FREEZING cold has come into Toronto....I really would like to drive my 911 on dry days....so I did today. I noticed however that there was lots of dry salt on the roads...and the wind was blowing it around...I got nervous.

Question - Will dry salt cause rust? I wont drive her on wet slush days, but its a shame to not enjoy her on dry sunny cold days...

I believe road deicers are usually chlorides or mixtures of chlorides, so they are potentially corrosive. I'm with you on driving the Porsche in the winter if I can find dry pavement, and I'll use a car wash if I accumulate salt. Fortunately, they don't use much salt in North Dakota (too cold).

Agree with Kev, my coilovers have alu and steel, and they fuse together, needed refurb, and protective grease.

My NSX seems fine, I was under the impression that it was rust proof, I guess I need to go through a high school science class again.
