Cost of PPI

Cost of PPI
I going to have a PPI done on a C2 I am considering. The local shops are telling me they charge 6 hours of labor to do a leakdown test - in addition to $275 for the standard PPI. This is a lot more than I remember paying for the PPI on my 3.2. Is this typical? I am considering proceeding without the leakdown.
Thanks, Scott

Much more than I paid here in Florida. I think I paid less than $250 with a leak down back in July.
I have seen a general range from $85 - 175 + plus a leakdown fee.

Scott,
They are trying to RIP you off. Besides leakdown does not always tell the whole story. Do a compression check and compare the numbers across all 6 cylinders. This can also be very insightful as to the overall health of the engine. I have done PPIs all over the country and the $275 should cover everything regardless of where you are located. I am in CA and never paid more than that and CA prices are among the highest.
Good Luck
