Wow! I'm really sorry to hear that, but very glad you weren't injured. That is always a little fear of mine at the track. I look forward to see your next beast.

That is just terrible - sorry to see this happen to you and your great looking car. There seems to be a lot of vultures already swirling overhead looking to pick your car apart. Not sure I could handle that.
My one and only (hopefully my first of many...) DE was marred by a spin that was induced by a water pumper (plus my own lack of experience). But, it ended in only a brief slide across the grass at Putnam Park, and then back on the track. A little toilet paper was all that was required to get me back on the track.
I am curious - will the loss be covered by your insurance? This was a concern of mine when I chose to do a DE - but I was "assured" by my agent that I would be covered as long as it is a non-timed, non-competitive event. But I really don't want to test his "assurance".
Good luck with getting back on the road.

DWS964. Yes, it sounds like vultures. But on the other hand, the sooner he sells some of the parts on this car, the sooner he's back on the track in another car!
Also, do a search on insurance coverage and DE's. I'm not so sure it's a sure thing.
As far as the accident, I feel your pain man! I had a BMW dive bomb turn 1 at CMP in a NASA race. He hit another BMW who hit me. Of course the originator had minimal damage, the other guy probably had a bent frame and I got a bill for 5 grand! Thank god you're OK. That's what counts in the end...

Thanks for the responses guys, the best thing is that I walked away from it and wasn't even sore. I hope to be back at the track next year but it all depends on the vultures, hehe. The sooner I get rid of this thing, the sooner I can move on to the next project

Ilko, that really sucks. I left before my last run because it was too f*cking cold and the drivers were being a little f*cking reckless out there. That's amazing. That was twice in one day that someone dumped all their coolant and many cars went flying (happened to me and 4 other cars in big bend). They really need to ban coolant at PDA events. So many of those cars are pieces of sh*t. Sorry about your car, I was really impressed with how nice it was. Best of luck with the new car.

Thanks Sean, it was great meeting you! Hopefully I'll see you again at the track next year. I'm pissed for having to pay for other people's lack of responsibility, but that's another story and I won't get into it. What's done is done, time to move on now

too bad it happened to you and glad you are ok.. I have a similar story to share with a buffoon at a club race... My question is that from the pics, it does not look like a huge damage? Isn't that repairable?

Ilko - thank gawd you are OK..!!
I'll also echo what Danny said... When I was looking at the pics - it would seem a great winter project, and make it into a fabulous track car?? Just a thought..???

Thanks for the kind words guys! To get it done right it would cost around $10,000 including painting. And then I'll have a $18-20K car. Financially it just doesn't sound good to me. If I intended to keep it till the bitter end then maybe. But right now it's worth more in pieces unfortunately. Instead of dumping any more money into it I'd rather start fresh. Does that make sense?

Bill,
Yes, I'm leaning towards another 964. I was just telling Geoffrey the other day how happy I am with my current car and how for the first time in a long while I haven't had the wandering eye to look at other cars.
I actually have a particular car in mind that will work pretty well for me, but I need some time to think it through. It's been a crazy few days. Just 5 days ago I wasn't planning on buying a new car, let alone parting out my current one...
John, any questions or parts requests, I'd be glad to help
