If you do something similar to this, you get close:
1) do cat bypass/1 muffler bypass
2) remove about 320lbs
(curb weight / power) = pw/wt
3260/250=13.04
3260/300=10.86
2934/260=10.86
3260-2934=326 lbs
Thus, reduce weight by 326lbs (aggressive) and assume 10hp from the mods, and you are essentially there. This is a cheap(er) alternative to Motec/3.8/other mods to the already pretty sprung motor.

And who, here, doesn't? Nice lead in, G.
Rob, Your numbers are just scary! 275 at the wheels? Assuming the standard 15% transmission loss, you're looking at 324 hp at the crank. So the ratio is actually 2,460/324 = 7.59. That puts your car just a shade higher than the 7.41 benchmark set by the 997 GT3 (3,075/415). Not bad for a 15 year old car.

David,
I have a Hotfilming or MAF solution right here in Atlanta. Send me a email I will tell you more about the system and it's gains. Also who you need to talk to here.

i am not sure about the crank HP being 324 in my car, it's strong but not that strong. at 275 whp i am still pinging some (on my 3rd chip currently, i need to talk to geoffery about the images he has)
with a stock welt mister chip, Cat, primary delete, stock secondary i am at 252 at the wheels. so still pretty strong.
and to be fair my car at 2460 is 1/4 tank of gas, no recaro pass seat, no pass floor board, no pass seat belt, no lower dash (i have a small trim peice for the lower dash), of course no radio, primary and cat delete.
"Normal" race trim is 2530-45 depending on what i need to run for exhaust.
My car does not have a Cage any longer either so that is a huge savings.
on the street (w/radio, comfort seats, rear shelf, normal foam floor boards, spare, Cup 1 17's, etc. i am in the mid 2600's (i have not weighed it like this) which drops the pwr/lbs ratio singnifiantly.
but i can reconfig the car in a long afternoon - which to me is the best of both worlds.

actually Porsche did.
when they were sold at the dealer they did not have the cage installed (it was cut out for the andial prepped cars). all of the andial cars were "Re-Converted" back to street spec's (this was done to satisfy the DOT inspectors after the 959 debacile).
That said the reconversions were mostly completly done. Each car had the road gear that was stripped stored on a unique pallet, but occasionally pieces were "exchanged" between cars (i have minor trim peices from 2 other cars, and a door from a 3rd, on my car)
The record keeping was somewhat suspect since it was just a hand written # on the part (for instance the carpet just had chaulk marks with a No. or "USA" on the larger peices.
all of the cars with cages now have been re-built so to speak to varying degrees of correctness, After they were sold by porsche at the dealers (we have records for most of the delivering dealers.). All were sold as street cars by PCNA (Reno)
