Check this link about the scantool software (incl a link to download). All you need to do it yourself is a computer with a serial connection and an interface (which is also discussed in the link). If you're handy with wires you can build the interface yourself or order it from the place in the uk. I have found Scantool to be an invaluable tool (many many many thanks to Doug Boyce and anyone else involved in its development!). Not quite as powerful as a hammer but for the Do it yourselfer it's fantastic!
