Default failed motor mount?

I am wondering if my motor mounts have failed - looking at them in the car, the support is hanging down with a gap of about 1/2-3/4" I was wondering if this is normally how the engine hangs on the hydraulic mounts, or if it means the have failed. I have seen the pics and notes in Adrian's book, and know that it is relatively simple to remove and check. But I thought I would ask, first. Plus, the gap between my exhaust tip and valence panel seems wider.
I can try to get a pic later...
I do occasionally hear a single thunk during a hard turn - if I didn't know this was a rear-engined car, I would think I had something rolling around in the trunk.
I know, this is all part of the disease - always sensing something that needs to be fixed or upgraded.

At the beginning of summer, one of mine failed completely leaving the engine hanging about 2" lower on one side. It might be worth some time to pull it out and have a look at it.

Signs of fluid loss underneath?
I just replaced mine and that was the sign.

I just went through this. This thread describes my experience...

Search and you will find plenty, in particular the 'slosh' test. I would bet money they are toast.
