TORONTO (Reuters) - The Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S. currency for the first time in 31 years on Thursday, according to Reuters data, supported by lofty commodity prices, a strong domestic economy and concerns about a U.S. economic slowdown.
The downside is that the value of my porsche has dropped to under 1/2 in the last 4 years as cheap US porsches have become easily attainable.

Or that now that they are cheaper for us Canadians to buy in the US, we can buy another P car. California here we come!
(I remember as a kid when our Canadian $ was higher that the US $. Shows my age.)

I suspect Porsche dealerships are taking a beating. They have been taking advantage of Canadian customers for years, with wildly disproportionate pricing compared to south of the border.
I stopped dealing with my local Porsche dealer over the costs of parts:
My porsche dealer orders parts out of the main porsche warehouse in Arizona. In the last 4 years they have seen their costs drop by 40% as the dollar changed. In response to this windfall they raised their prices 15%. So now I order all my parts out of sunset porsche in Oregon.
I realise that they have overhead for stock they may have been carrying as the dollar changed value, but lets be realistic here. When I need a part, its not in stock. They have to order it anyways.
