Last weekend I replaced my fuel tank filler neck to remedy a fume smell in my trunk.
I'm still getting fumes![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
I removed the expansion tank and checked all the vent hoses. All were tight.
Checked the sender. It was tight as well.
Replaced the gas cap. No joy.
Smell is strongest at the filler and vent connection to the filler neck.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

I had the same thing. Replaced the filler neck but still smelled fumes for a long time, but it finally went away. Don't have any explanantion. Maybe it really was in the carpet.

Well, last night I got under the car and pulled the cover on the fuel pump. I got a look at the gasket for the in-tank filter too. All were dry ![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
I'm going to try to borrow a HC sniffer and see if I can find the source that way.

I replaced the filler neck, gas cap, and a leaking fuel return line. I also rented a carpet cleaner and scrubbed the carpets - smell is gone.

At last, I found the source of the smell ![jumper](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/jumper.gif)
The line under the vapor catch tank, running from the tank to the rollover valve had perished. After I replaced it, the smell disappeared.
This weekend I'll replace the other lines that run from the catch tank to the fuel tank.

...I tightened the hose clamp on the end of the hose under the expansion tank and the smell is gone!

To anyone having this issue I would advise them to replace all of the vapor lines before replacing the filler pipe.
