As you may have guessed, the 8:32 has a larger impact.

Manny, I sent a copy to your e-mail address from the PCA.org website. It's an Excel file I conjured up.

IIRC, I got the formula from the Bruce Anderson book, in the section outlining gear selection. For those interested in generating your own worksheet:

MPH = (RPM x Tire Diameter x 0.002975) / (R&P Ratio x Driven Gear Ratio)
