Default Clear Signals Help

Hello guys. I need some help/advice.

I'm doing my first mod and replacing the orange signals with clears.

I have the two housings off the passenger side. Questions:

1) For the sidemost lens (the flat one), what is the trick to getting the light bulb assembly disconnected from the lens?

2) for the forwardmost lens (the rounded one), what is the trick for removing the actual light bulb from its socket (do I pull it straight out or does it need to be rotated 90 degrees)?

I'm afraid for forcing it, so thought i'd look to the collective wisdom.

TIA

IIRC:

1) Rotate assembly counter clockwise.
2) Rotate bulb. Mine broke off when I was doing this mod. The bulbs must have been there for 15 years and were just stuck. I broke the glass and used needle nose pliers to get the base of the bulb out which was not difficult. Did you get orange bulbs already?

Thank you very much. Going back to try.

I got orange bulbs, but I have a feeling I don't have the right bulb for the flat assembly. Will see when I get it open.

Thanks again!

OK. Partial success. Got the light bulbs out. Thanks ilko. Don't have correct bulbs for flat assembly, so will have to make a run to see if I can find it.

On another note, trying to get the larger, curved assembly re-installed. I remember reading that it may take some filing. Anyone know the pressure points. The part (Danske) looks identical to the original Bosche.

File about 2mm off the tops (or sides, depending on how you look at it) of the tabs. Kind of hard to explain over the internets but I'll try... Once you place the curved lens in the bumper, you will see that both tabs are too big to fit in the openings. You have to file part of each tab in order to be able to fit it in. Does that make sense?

Thanks again ilko. I got it. Sure helped when I realized i needed to remove the bumperette.

Last question (I hope).

For the small side lenses, my replacements don't have an actual hole in them. I assume all I need to do is dremel a hole?

Sorry for the multitude of questions.

What hole are you missing? For the bulb? Or the screw? I didn't have that problem with mine...

no hole for the bulb. odd, because the assembly is correct, they just didn't drill out the plastic to have an access inside the assembly.

hmmmmmmmm very weird, never had to do a single thing with mine and got them for $60.00 from here. They are exact to the original.

The difference is the side most part on european cars has no light like the US version does. I bought mine in the UK but ended up with the US version so might fit some lights in there at a later date, will look a bit weird in this country but nothing wrong with that!!!!

Just had some time to finish. I will post some pics later. Here are the mods I had do/things I learned...

1) Remove the bumperette, it is key to removal and re-installation (seems logical now).
2) Turn signal light bulbs turn 1/4 turn to remove them.
3) Parking light bulbs pull straight out of their housing. (I need to get some better amber bulbs, local shop's aren't that orange, plus I would like the chrome ends like on my turn signal bulbs).
4) I had to dremel out the wholes on both of the parking light assemblies. No big deal.
5) I had to dremel out the screw hole on one of the parking light assemblies.
6) I had to file, with my dremel, the tabs on both of the parking light assemblies so that they would slide far enough in to the turn signal assemblies, allowing me to get the final screw in place.

I love the look. My 6 and 4 year olds helped me with the screws and the nuts on bumperettes. A good chance to spend some quality time together (even though it took FOREVER ) and they won't be so helpless around cars like their father.

Thanks again for the help guys. Pics to come. Want to get her clean first!
