Question Stuck Window

The pax window is stuck in the up position. I have verified that the switches are OK. This has happened once before and I took the door apart to find out the problem. It appeared that the gears were stuck. My owner's manuel provides instructions on opening/closing the windows with a hex extension on the end of a wrench. Unfortunately, I do not have such a tool with the car. What is the alternate tool that would substitute for this hex extension? Also, does anyone have experience with a similar problem with the window and what was your solution?

Jerry,
you can use a 5/32 allen wrench, but its best to get one thats on the end of a screwdriver handle, not the small assorted ones in a kit, to short to turn.
I couldn't turn the window and ended up removing the motor, applying voltage to it and the darn thing worked great out of the car.I think they seize up ,sometimes you can tap the door panel and it will free it up,or move it with the wrench and they work again.
I replaced the motor,no troubles after that.

I had the same experience the last time this happened. I was hoping to avoid taking the dore apart. Thanks for the info.

My passenger side window stopped working a little while back. It was a bad window motor. I verified the plug going to the window motor was getting +-12V. I removed the window motor only and verify there was an open by measuring the resistance across the power leads. Replaced the motor and all is well.
