Not a million miles away from David's suggestion is the Crooked Billet on the old A41 between Aylesbury and Bicester. They have a good car park - used regularly by TIPEC for their regional meets - and they are obviously used to Porsche gatherings. Web site here.

I would be tempted to mention it to the TIPEC RO if we were going to use it as well as a quick call to the landlord.

The advantage of this location (both Long Crendon and Kingswood) is the great drive from the M25 up the A41 to Aylesbury - a delightful undulating dual carriageway mostly free of traffic (although Plod are known to frequent the area from time to time!!)

Thoughts anyone???

Living in Aylesbury myself I think it's a great idea - definately no excuse for me to miss this one!

Sounds good to me dave. I know a route to Aylesbury from windsor which is good fun if any London lads fancy tagging along.

Great idea Dave. Have you got a date in mind yet?

Posts earlier in the thread were suggesting 26th August. Any takers??

If we have some consensus and the Crooked Billet is favoured I'll try and sort out the details.

Regards

Dave

I'll try and make it if I can - will be nice to meet some of the London/SE gang now that I've moved to London!

Thanks Dave,

You saved my bacon there. Looks like a nice pub and if it has the all-important large carpark that would be even better.... I can probably make the 26th.

Cheers,

David

If we can agree a date I can post on a few other bits of the forum.

Cheers,

David

OK - I chatted to the local TIPEC man and he is cool with us using "his" venue so I'll call the landlord in the next day or so and see if he is equally cool.

If the 26th is good for everybody I'll use that as a plan.

I can't promise a "Raymond" level of hospitality and I suspect refreshments, if available, will be of the paid-for variety but I'm sure we can cope. As David said though - some potential for a nice drive out.

Be nice to see you Rob - it's been a while. Is Kevin going to make it - it's a bit of a slog over from Colchester. It looks like there will certainly be some welcome newcomers but it would be good for the stalwarts to come as well.

Regards

Dave

I'll make my best effort Dave, it looks like about 100 miles, so not too much of an slog.....hence my asking for postcodes.

Kevin.

I've attached a pdf from Google Earth so you can see the layout of the place. The car park to the left of the main building will take about 25 cars if carefully arranged. The post code of the place is HP18 0QJ and, as you can see, it's right on the A41 main road between Waddesdon and Bicester.

For those of you coming up the A41 from the M25 the drive is great up to Aston Clinton and then a little bit of a drag through Aylesbury - best around the ring road - to take the A41 out of Aylesbury towards Bicester. Then it's a decent single carriageway, through Waddesdon until you reach the village of Kingswood. There is a large car dealership on the left hand side just before you get to the Crooked Billet on the right.

I've e-mailed the pub and waiting on their response.

This is beginning to look very promising. With many of the usual attendees and, I hope, plenty of new ones it should be a good gathering. I guess Raymond will have trouble since the Worcester Park will probably have to have him for the day. Be nice if Roly could make it??

I'll get back once I've had a response from the pub.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for making the effort; looking promising and I even have clearance from my wife! :-)

Slight hijack but is anyone going to the Ace Cafe breakfast meet tomorrow?

If you want to meet at the Polish War Memorial at 8:30 then let me know.

Cheers,

David
