I looked in Adrian's book and my owners manual to find out what needs to be done and came up short on info.
Called 2 service shops - one said "this is the big one.... $1800" and the other "normal - $700". Dealer "normal - $900".
When do you replace distributor caps, betls, wires, plugs, etc?
Thanks,

Well, it's not as cut and dry. Most of our cars aren't driven daily, so many of the replacement items have to be done considering not only the mileage, but also the life of the part.
If you have the recent repairs and maintenance receipts you'll know how long/how many miles ago you did your valve adjustment, distributor, caps, belts, plugs, and wires.
According to the manual, valves and plugs need to be addressed every 15,000 miles. Plugs also have to be changed every 2 years.
My understanding is that belts, caps, and wires are changed every 30K miles. However, I would also ask a shop to perform a visual inspection of those items and let you know what their opinion is.
