Sure sounds fishy! As it happens, I had checked last night, and they were still at the old $156 price ... so something changed suddenly.
I checked my local supplier, and he said they have been on back order for a loooong time. Guess I'll be making do with my old wires for a while longer!

The Beru wire set arrived yesterday. Looks like a good quality product, looks just like the originals and is even made in Germany.
They are coated in a slippery release agent, so they are obviously new production and not left-overs.
