Clutch replacement in metro west MA
My clutch is slipping in most gears now, still drive able, but it is on its way out , so its time for a new one.
Can anyone recommend a Porsche mech in metro west that they trust?
Also, anyone guess the cost of a new clutch on a C4. I was thinking somewhere in the $2k range.
While the engine is out, what else should I consider. I need to fit a new engine sound proofing mat, valves should be done along with plugs and dist caps, rotors. Anything else?
Cheers

Mark,
I think $2K is a good guess but the cost will depend on what needs to be replaced. Has your DMF been updated to the LUK yet? If not, you should do it while you have the engine out. This past winter, I replaced my clutch myself and spent approx $1k in parts. As for a good mechanic, sorry I can't recommend any. I do my own wrench bending.
Edit: If you need a new DMF, tack on an extra $1k for parts.

It was all replaced 35K miles ago. I have a sneaking feeling the main engine seal has gone and pissed oil over the clutch as its worse when I drive it after its sat for a week or so. It seems to go away if I drive it every day, still slips, but not as much.

Highly recommend Eurotech Advanced Automotive in Framingham. Bill Pfister is great to work with. 508-879-9911.
