The lens is a Sigma XQ 500mm mirror lens. According to the conversion chart in my manual for the camera, a 500mm lens equals 750mm. It says to calculate the focal length for the D70, you mulitply the focal length of the lens in question by 1.5.
Now for the locations. The one of #39 Porsche is just after turn 14, from the outside of the track. Just before going up the hill. I also like the inside from the same location. It seems easier for me panning left to right on the inside than right to left on the out side. But you also have to watch the time of day-where the sun is.
The one of #18 is right past where the Billy Mitchell bridge use to be. Its a little more challenging here because you are not only panning left to right, you also have the elevation change going up.
The one of the 356's and the one with the BMW was taken from the same spot only looking left, toward Thunder Valley, past where the bridge was.
I also like to shoot up at turn 6 and turn 8, looking back toward turn 7.
