Yes. I installed the new ISV yesterday. Only took ten minutes to swap them out and the car fired up and idled perfectly on the first try. Idle was rock steady. Then today I took it out and loaded it up with A/C running, headlights, windshield wipers, fog lights, anything I could turn on. It stalled twice on my test drive even with the brand new squeaky clean ISV.

edit: Here's a couple of photos of the inside of the old ISV. Notice the roughness on the "flapper" including on the leading edge of it. This is the part of the ISV that is supposed to rotate within the cylinder to open and close.

OK So now it is time for a chip. Have you tried the Steve Wong chip yet or get one from Jason and give it a try? From my experience it is the AC that creates the biggest problem for the ISV so the fuel must come back on quicker.

I've got a new Steve Wong chip ready to install. That's the next little project to do. I'm supposed to use a screwdriver on it, right?

Greg,

Now we're talkin'. Bring your hammer. I've got some work to do on the ag equipment.

Thanks for sharing your failure and frustration. It's sure to save someone(me) from the same.

By the way, the flapper valve in your picture rotates upwards, past the hole and then opens fully. When it closes it goes PAST closed to slightly open. It appears that someone has taken a screw driver and attempted to push the valve open in the downward direction in your photo. That does not work.

Well, you know the old saying that sometimes, the purpose of one's life may be simply to serve as a cautionary tale for others. Maybe that's the case here, at least with my ISV...

I wonder who that could have been... In all seriousness, it doesn't take much pressure with a flat blade screwdriver to deform/scar the leading edge of the thing enough to cause it not to work. Trust me. Don't try this at home, kids.

No worries. All in good fun (until someone loses an ISV)...
