Default shock mount flange

OK, so I'm in the middle of replacing my struts and I'm curious whether or not people typically replace the shock mount flange. I couldn't find anywhere that anyone mentioned replacing these, and am not sure about how long these things last. I don't want to replace something that's not needed and I don't want to go back in a couple of months to replace something that I should've done, now.

Thanks.

Jason,
What year is your 964 ? The early cars have a different top mount to the later cars .
Generally the early top mounts do need replacing ! When you take the shocks of , take a look at the top mounts !

I did a conversion to use late top mounts on my early car ! All kinds of reasons , mainly so late Koni shocks can be used on the rear !
Good easy job .

Yes, mine is the older style. I'm not interested in changing the mounts to the newer style. I already have the struts and springs for the early style. The reason I ask is that the flanges appear to rotate freely and don't seem too bad for wear. Since I couldn't find any info out there, specific to these parts, I wanted to see if it was necessary to change them. Thanks.

Jason,

I wasnt suggesting that you go to the new style top mounts ! Just a thing I did.

The old style rear top mounts really do degrade . They distort very badly at times. Take a good look when you get there ?

Thanks Geoff. I guess I'll be hitting Sunset up for a set.

I replaced the rubber mounts front and rear when I replaced the suspension last winter.

No, I don't know it it was required but I figured, like a rubber bushing, they must wear out!
